TikTok趨勢揭露吸電子煙的陰暗面

胸痛、呼吸機、氣胸(肺萎陷)、維生系統。年輕人通過做他們最擅長的事,也就是在TikTok上分享他們的個人故事,以相互警告吸電子煙的危險及痛苦影響。

2022年7月,一位23歲的TikTok博主在發布一段視頻後走紅,該段視頻是關於她在氣胸(肺萎陷)後接受肺部手術的痛苦經歷。吸電子煙造成她的健康問題,導致她不但住院,還必須在手術後使用數週的吸入器。

社交媒體上充斥著年輕人揭露電子煙對他們身體造成傷害的例子。許多人分享醫院病床上的照片及視頻,談論他們因使用電子煙而面臨的可怕健康危機,並承諾永遠戒掉這個惡習。

煙草商製造適合兒童口味的電子煙,以掩蓋產品的刺激味道及高尼古丁含量。令人震驚的是,96%吸電子煙的加州兒童會使用不同口味的電子煙,一旦他們上癮,可能會成為終生的掙扎對抗。12 煙草商的計劃:讓顧客群對電子煙上癮,然後就可能會嘗試其他產品。34 吸電子煙的青少年有三倍的可能性成為日常吸香煙的癮君子。5

煙草行業組織的掩護機構像是無煙世界基金會等,一直在致力開展圓滑的公關活動,以說服大眾他們的電子煙產品比香煙更加安全。6 結果:煙草商造成年輕人吸電子煙的大流行病。7 煙草商將這些產品當成更安全的產品進行營銷,誘使眾多年輕人因此終身成癮並罹患疾病。89 即使煙草商欺騙年輕人誤認電子煙比吸煙「更安全」10,但大眾只需要在社交媒體上瀏覽一下,就能親眼見到電子煙可能造成的危害。年輕人正通過揭露吸電子煙的真相而與煙草商的操控與欺騙抗爭,並且已觸及數以百萬的閱眾。

某位使用電子煙四年多的年輕女性,因一段視頻而被瘋傳,觀看次數達2900萬次,內容正是關於住院兩週並最終接受維生系統的短片。

電子煙由煙草商設計製造,經由提供高度濃縮的尼古丁形式以能最大限度地提高其成癮性11,這是一種與海洛因同樣會令人上癮的化學物質。12 正因吸電子煙是如此令人上癮,以至於年輕用戶開始愈加頻繁地使用電子煙,也因此導致對其大腦及身體的嚴重損害。13

但尼古丁並非是唯一的危害。電子煙內含有毒化學物質,我們只是剛開始了解它對於健康的危害而已。使用電子煙與增加中風的風險,以及提高嚴重慢性病如慢性阻塞性肺病(COPD)、心臟病發和心臟疾病的風險有所關聯,並可能增加罹患肺癌的風險。1415172324252627 眾所周知,電子煙會增加心臟受損的風險,16 並造成肺部炎症17及噁心。18 在電子煙煙液中發現的化學物質可能會損害心臟泵血能力,19 並與一種稱為爆米花肺的危險呼吸道疾病有關。20

我們的年輕人幾乎難以避免接觸危險的煙草商產品。 在加州,每293位孩子就有一家商店販售煙草給他們,出售煙草的商店數量已是星巴克咖啡店的12倍。2122

現在正是打破成癮循環的時刻!我們有力量在加州創造更美好的未來,但首先必須阻止大煙草公司繼續將我們的孩子當作目標而帶來疾病與死亡。
