TikTok趨勢揭露吸電子煙的陰暗面

胸痛、呼吸機、氣胸(肺萎陷)、維生系統。年輕人通過做他們最擅長的事,也就是在TikTok上分享他們的個人故事,以相互警告吸電子煙的危險及痛苦影響。

2022年7月,一位23歲的TikTok博主在發布一段視頻後走紅,該段視頻是關於她在氣胸(肺萎陷)後接受肺部手術的痛苦經歷。吸電子煙造成她的健康問題,導致她不但住院,還必須在手術後使用數週的吸入器。

社交媒體上充斥著年輕人揭露電子煙對他們身體造成傷害的例子。許多人分享醫院病床上的照片及視頻,談論他們因使用電子煙而面臨的可怕健康危機,並承諾永遠戒掉這個惡習。

煙草業積極地在社交媒體上向孩子們廣告電子煙產品,因為他們知道年輕人更容易上癮。12 他們的計劃?就是讓下一代對電子煙上癮,因為新顧客即意味著更多嘗試其他煙草產品的機會。34 吸電子煙的青少年有三倍的可能性成為日常吸香煙的癮君子。5

煙草業組織的掩護機構,像是由PMI菲利浦 · 莫利斯所資助的「全球無煙行動」(前稱「無煙世界基金會」)等,6 一直在致力開展圓滑的公關活動,試圖說服大眾他們的電子煙產品比香煙的危害較少。7 結果是:煙草業造成年輕人吸電子煙的大流行病。89 煙草業將這些產品當成危害較少的產品進行營銷,誘使眾多年輕人因此終身成癮並罹患疾病。1011

即使煙草業欺騙年輕人誤認電子煙比吸煙「更安全」,但大眾只需要在社交媒體上瀏覽一下,就能親眼見到電子煙可能造成的危害。8 年輕人正通過揭露吸電子煙的真相而與煙草業的操控與欺騙抗爭,並且已觸及數以百萬的閱眾。

某位使用電子煙四年多的年輕女性,因一段視頻而被瘋傳,觀看次數達2900萬次,內容正是關於住院兩週並最終接受維生系統的短片。

電子煙由煙草業設計製造,經由提供高度濃縮的尼古丁形式以能最大限度地提高其成癮性,這是一種與海洛因同樣會令人上癮的化學物質。1213 正因吸電子煙是如此令人上癮,以至於年輕用戶開始愈加頻繁地使用電子煙,也因此導致對其大腦及身體的嚴重損害。14
